Hydrodynamic testing

Types of tests performed:
Vehicle under water motion parameter measured for launch from moving platform
Flight motion video using high speed camera

 Test Section size and shape: Water tank with size 12 m (L) x 2
m (W) x 7m (H) with front wall made up of transparent acrylic sheets. 
Test Control Parameters:
Trolley speed can be varied from controller
Model rocket motor
Model has small rocket motor for launch from its canister and flight motion

 Type of tunnel:
Free flight under water motion simulation for vehicle launch from moving platform 
Instrumentation:
Miniature six component inertial measurement unit (IMU)
to measure components of flight acceleration and angular rate.
High pressure transducer to measure the motor chamber pressure.
On-board card as well as battery for storage of data from IMU and motor chamber pressure.
Set of proximity switch to measure the trolley speed
Automatic firing console to fire the model motor

Data acquisition Systems:
NI make SCXI based DAQ system for ground instrumentation
On-board data acquisition card for IMU data and other parameters
